Supplier Code of Conduct
REL India buys steel, tooling, consumables and services from partners we trust. This Code sets out what we expect from every supplier, its staff and its own sub-suppliers — starting with zero tolerance for bribery and corruption.
Draft — for REL management approval · last updated 2026-10-14
01 Anti-bribery and anti-corruption
No bribes, kickbacks, facilitation payments or any improper advantage — offered, paid, requested or accepted — to or from REL employees, customers, officials or anyone else. Suppliers comply with India’s Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and every other anti-corruption law that applies to them, and keep accurate books that show the true nature of every payment.
02 Gifts, hospitality and conflicts of interest
No gifts, cash, vouchers, loans or hospitality to REL employees to win or keep business. Token items of nominal value only, never during a tender or negotiation. Any family, financial or business link with an REL employee must be declared in writing before work starts.
03 Fair competition
No price-fixing, bid-rigging, market-sharing or exchange of competitor information. Compete on quality, delivery and cost.
04 Human rights and labour
No child labour and no forced, bonded or trafficked labour. Wages and benefits at least at the legal minimum, paid on time; working hours and overtime within the law; freedom of association respected. No discrimination, harassment or abuse. Workers keep their own identity documents.
05 Health and safety
A safe workplace: machine guarding, safe handling of chemicals, fire safety, first aid, and suitable protective equipment free of charge. Incidents are recorded and corrected. People working on REL premises follow REL safety rules.
06 Environment
Hold and follow every environmental permit. Reduce waste, emissions, water and energy use; treat effluent before discharge; handle hazardous materials safely. Declare restricted substances in parts and materials where customers or law require it (for example RoHS, REACH, ELV, IMDS).
07 Quality and traceability
Meet REL purchase specifications and drawings, and the automotive quality requirements REL passes on (IATF 16949 customer-specific requirements). Keep heat and batch traceability. Never change material, process, sub-supplier or site without REL’s written approval. Report any suspect or non-conforming product immediately.
08 Responsible sourcing
Know where raw materials come from. Avoid minerals that fund conflict or human-rights abuse, and pass these expectations on to your own suppliers.
09 Confidentiality and data
Drawings, specifications, prices and customer information shared by REL are confidential: use them only for REL work, protect them, and return or destroy them when asked. Personal data is handled lawfully, including under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
10 Trade compliance
Follow export, import, customs and sanctions rules, with correct origin and classification documents.
11 Records, audits and improvement
Keep records that show compliance with this Code and allow REL, or REL’s customers, to audit them with reasonable notice. Gaps are fixed with an agreed action plan and dates.
12 Raising concerns
Report any breach of this Code, or any request for a bribe, in confidence to REL management. Reports made in good faith are protected — no retaliation. Serious or repeated breaches can end the business relationship.
